Forest City Knitting Co., Aerial View.

This aerial view looking east from the Rock River depicts the industrial section of southeast Rockford that developed by the water. The Forest City Knitting Co., 212 Catherine St. in Rockford IL, is the long, low building in the photo's right section. John Nelson, who began the Nelson Knitting Co. in 1880, died in 1883 at the age of 53. His sons, Franklin, William, Oscar, and Frithiof, started the Forest City Knitting Co. in 1890.
