Bivouac on Field Exercises - Medical Dept., Camp Grant, Ill.
Title
Bivouac on Field Exercises - Medical Dept., Camp Grant, Ill.
Description
Looking down a wooded slope to a clearing filled with strings of tents, comprising a bivouac, or temporary encampment of soldiers. On back: "The tiny triangular dots in the center of picture are 'pup' tents, or shelter-halves erected by trainees at Camp Grant, Illinois, during field exercises for an overnight bivouac. The larger tents at the left are the mess kitchens. The big tent at the rear is a hospital, or ward tent. One of the two medical department training centers in the United States, Camp Grant is known as the most beautiful army camp in the country. Soldiers are trained here for service with medical units in all branches of the U. S. Army."
