The William Crotty family residence at 727 East State Street. William and his wife Frances M. were living at 727 East State Street by 1894. William worked in real estate in Rockford. In 1899 he died in a traffic accident leaving Frances with 8 children (Edward P., Vera, Irene, Marie, Ralph, Edna, Fred and John) in the home where they lived until 1917.
