Title

"Lift that Bale" at Nelson Knitting Co.

Description

The text beside the photograph (right) proclaims, 'Here, we get a peek at Nelson's huge warehouse that is scientifically designed to maintain proper humidity in the yarn. "Curing" of the yarn is an extra care which contributes materially to better knitting, and hence to longer wear. The men in the picture are checking weights, tallying bills of lading and piling yarn.' This photo and text may have been part of a company promotional campaign. Nelson Knitting Co. (1880-1992), home of the Red Heel Socks that led to the "Sock Monkey," introduced the tube sock in 1966. Nelson's was located at 909 S. Main, Rockford IL.
