Description
A large group of employees stand and sit outside the offices of the Forest City Knitting Co., located at 212 Catherine St. in Rockford IL. The 1935 city directory describes the business as "hosiery manufacturers." John Nelson, who began the Nelson Knitting Co. in 1880, died in 1883 at the age of 53. His sons, Franklin, William, Oscar, and Frithiof, started the Forest City Knitting Co. in 1890.
