A typed memo (May 28, 1958) attached to the back of the photo describes details of the exhibit and Barber-Colman's part in "an exhibit designed to publicize the benefits that accrue to the American way of life by virtue of the U.S. Patent System. The exhibit was formally opened on Tuesday, May 13 (1958), and will continue through Thursday, June 5. The Barber-Colman exhibit depicts the growth of the Company under the U.S. Patent System, from a small manufacturer of hand knotting equipment, to a major manufacturer of a diversified line of products."
