Description
Originally hailing from St. Clair, MI, William "Bill" Allington, pictured crouching with a ball in a catcher's mitt before empty stadium seats, was born on October 26, 1900. He managed the Rockford Peaches in 1945 and '46, and again from 1948 through '52. His Rockford Peaches won AAGPBL championships in 1945 and again from 1948 through '50. A good teacher and tough taskmaster, he was also a stickler for rules, often giving his players pop quizzes during practices and bus rides to away games. Allington passed away on August 17, 1966.
