As the color guard of this parade heads west in the first block of W. State St., the crowds watch from the sidewalks, windows, and building tops. The Rockford newspaper News Tower building, constructed in 1930 at 99 E. State, can be seen far left in this photograph and is actually across the Rock River on the city's east side.
