Description
Mack F., a trotter horse owned by Fred Moffatt, poses with its sulky (a lightweight, two-wheeled vehicle for harness racing) and driver in front of a stable. Fred Moffatt, owner of Moffatt Cigar Company, 212 W. State Street, was very active in horse racing. Horse racing was an extremely popular sport in Rockford. This photograph may have been taken at the "driving range" just north of the city limits or at the Fairgrounds. The photo may have been taken at the same time as photos 88.122.708, 88.122.660, 88.122.659c, 88.122.659b, 88.122.659a, 88.122.676, 88.122.800, and 88.122.678.
