Rock River Dredging
Title
Rock River Dredging
Description
Dredging on the Rock River was not an unusual sight in the late 1890s. The floating dredging barge seen in this photo was probably in use for increasing the depth of the channel. Similar dredging also took place for harvesting freshwater clams and mussels for the button industry.
