A large group of soldiers sitting on the ground before a covered stage in the distance with buildings behind. On the campaign trail, Theodore Roosevelt stops at Camp Grant on September 26, 1917 to inspect the facilities and speak to the men. Postmarked from Rockford IL on September 30, 1917, the message on the back reads: "This picture doesn't do the occasion justice. When one stood up and looked about, it seemed as if there were millions of heads, instead of only 25,000."
