A name given to the resource
Amerock: "A Good Place To Work."
Description
An account of the resource
This "convention unit" was used at trade shows. Two female employees are seated within the unit, one in front of a picture of the Ziock building, labeled as the "main plant and office, 416 S. Main St." in Rockford IL, and the other in front of a photo of "Amerock Plant No. 2, Seminary & Sayre Streets." Although the company's name is prominently displayed as the American Cabinet Hardware Corp., the phrase "Genuine Amerock Products," a combination of the words "American" and "Rockford," is there as well to reflect the change-over in name. The slogan "Amerock: 'A Good Place To Work'" is also featured on the display.

Camp Grant, Rockford, Illinois in World War I and World War II
Description
An account of the resource
A collection of postcard views and photographs of Camp Grant. In April 1917 the United States entered the first World War. Immediately the federal government began planning for a dozen new military training camps. In Rockford, Illinois the Chamber of Commerce led a campaign to win a camp for the community.
In June 1917 the War Department agreed to locate an army training camp—Camp Grant-- in Rockford. Camp Grant was located south of Rockford where the Rockford International Airport now sits. Construction was speedy and significant. In three months 1100 buildings went up. By September 1917 the camp was open and receiving thousands of recruits.
With thousands of men residing at the camp throughout the war, Camp Grant improved Rockford’s economy, raised business profits and led to growth of the area overall. The camp would go on to be used during World War II as well but was decommissioned in the years following.
