Nelson, son of Nelson Knitting Co. founder John Nelson, posing next to visiting Prince Bertil of Sweden at the Forest City Knitting Co., located at 212 Catherine St. in Rockford IL. John Nelson, who began the Nelson Knitting Co. in 1880, died in 1883 at the age of 53. His sons, Franklin, William, Oscar, and Frithiof, started the Forest City Knitting Co. in 1890.
