Description
An account of the resource
This reproduction photograph looks from the east side of the Rock River across to Rockford's west side. The Water Power district allowed industry to flourish and grow. The photo's center shows the N. C. Thompson Agricultural Works, manufacturers of agricultural implements, listed in the 1877 city directory as being located at 642 S. Main St. This plant was later used by the Woodward Governor Company early in its formation.
