                <text>This photograph showing eighteen men has "My Dad Emil" handwritten across the third figure from the left in the top row. These men represent workers at the Mechanics Furniture Co., 1100 Seminary St. at the corner of Keith St. in Rockford IL. Established in 1890, the company's slogan was "Our line, make it your line" according to a 1910 company catalog. In 1904, the Register Gazette newspaper reported that the Mechanics Furniture Co. employed twenty-four traveling salesmen who reached every part of the U.S. Emil's last name and the identities of the other men in the photo are unknown. The company closed its doors in the mid to late 1930s. </text>
