This photograph is in Jon Lundin's book Master Inventor (2006, p. 18-19) with this caption: "Colman and his warp drawing-in machine (D.I.M.) in the 1890s. The photograph was taken in the inventor's second-floor workshop in the Spengler Brothers' building in Rockford. A white sheet was used as a backdrop."

In Jon Lundin's book Master Inventor (2006, p. 336), Lundin states, "After a honeymoon in Alaska, the Colmans sail to Europe, where Howard markets the knotter," referring to his invention, the hand-knotter (see photo 2005.34.201c).
