Rockford Bolt Works.
Description
An account of the resource
A reproduction photograph depicting the exterior of Rockford Bolt Works, on Mill St. in the Water Power District. Established in 1862, the 1877 city directory states that the business produced "general iron bolt manufacturing for agricultural implements" including carriages, plows, and machinery bolts. S. B. Wilkins was the proprietor at that time with Frederick Mortimer being the foreman. This photo shows wooden steps leading up to the entrance where barrels can be seen in the doorway. A very tall ladder is set up outside the door and a carriage waits in the street.
