Valspar Celebration at the Faust Hotel.
Black and white photograph of four men holding a painting, taken at the Faust Hotel, 618-634 E. State St. at 4th Street. Valspar Corporation, founded in 1806, is celebrating its 160th anniversary. The man on the far left is Ben Schleicher, mayor of Rockford IL from 1957 to 1973. John B. Anderson, U.S. Congressman (1961-1981) from Illinois' 16th Congressional district and presidential campaign independent in 1980, is at the far right. One of the two men in the middle is likely Ralph Baudhuin, CEO of Valspar, and was noted in the newspaper to be receiving a print of Valspar's first location. See Wednesday, December 14, 1966 edition of the Rockford Register-Republic newspaper (Rockford, Illinois).
